Dimo Kecheliev

Dimo is a MSc candidate focusing on aquaculture and fish pathology. Being surrounded by water has been a common theme since he was a young child in his father’s fish room. Since then, Dimo has maintained numerous freshwater aquariums leading to the creation of various fish rooms revolving around African cichlids. The transition to saltwater was imminent and the MTS (multiple tank syndrome) was quickly turned into a full-blown garage renovation outfitted with various setups for coral, fish, and invertebrates. Dimo’s passion lies in nurturing marine life to the best of his capabilities, learning, improving, and driving innovation in the hobby in the hopes that aquatic biodiversity is better understood, protected, and present for future generations to see and experience!

HANNA Refractometer

This is the best recommended tool to measure your water salinity!

  1. Calibrate the machine with deionized water by putting a small pipette of water on the scale, pressing the ‘range’ button for a ppt reading, covering with your hand (to remove extra light impact) and pressing the ‘zero’ button
  2. Dry the scale and repeat the process with tank water
  3. Tanks with coral should be at approximately 33-35 ppt and with only fish or invertebrates, between 21-26 ppt

Salifert Water Chemistry

This is the best recommended set to measure your water chemistry!

  1. Each box contains a list of step-by-step instructions
  2. We recommend tanks hosting coral to consistently be tested for Ca, Mg and Alk measurements
  3. You can find details on our recommended specifications for premium water conditions to ensure healthy, thriving corals in the aquarium guides above!

Reef Nutrition

These are the best recommended feeding sources for happy, healthy coral!

  1. Corals like to eat! Consistently feeding your coral (3-4x) weekly will enhance their growth and overall health
  2. Feeding coral in measurements will be diverse depending on the type, quantity, and size of your corals! Recommended (approximate) specifications for measurements can be found in the aquarium guides above
  3. Combine the recommended quantities of R.O.E (Real Oceanic Eggs); Oyster feast and Phytoplankton Feast in a small plastic measuring container
  4. Corals can be fed independently by putting the pipette directly over the coral (recommended that at least 2-3 of the weekly feeds be done with this method) or; dump the mixture into the tank
